What 1,000 Leaders Looks Like

I’m pleased to announce that this month, The Military Leader crossed 1,000 committed subscribers and followers! It’s a modest milestone, but important because it shows that there is a clear need for quality leader development content. It also shows that leaders are willing to engage and share with their teams, subordinates, and friends.

I want to thank everyone who has spent some time on the site and specifically those of you who have shared the posts. It’s tough to carve out a niche in the contemporary media environment but your shares help tremendously and make the effort worthwhile.

Below you will find some relevant and interesting stats about The Military Leader from across several social platforms (web, Facebook, email, Twitter, and RSS).

From looking at these stats and watching the site evolve, a few important facts have emerged:

  1. The Content is Relevant. I’ve received lots of feedback that leaders are using the posts and products in their leader development plans. That is really why I started this endeavor, to give leaders easy resources to develop their people. Our teams are hungry for development and won’t reach their potential if they simply execute tasks all day. Take Away:  If you find useful content, take some time to review it with them. You don’t have to build a program, simply ask what they think and let them drive the discussion. (See “10 Easy Ways to Develop Your Leaders” if you’re looking for engagement ideas.)
  2. Sharing is decisive. Of the 821 Facebook people who follow The Military Leader Page, only about 200 will see the posts in their News Feedunless the posts are Liked and Shared. I’ve also seen the highest increases in engagement after a member invites friends to Like the Page or visit the site. Take Away:  Most of us only use Facebook to see new babies and pictures of food, but if The Military Leader content resonates with you, please consider sharing with your friends.
  3. Email subscription is the way to go. Want to guarantee that you’ll receive The Military Leader posts? Sign up to receive them by email. That way, you can read it when you want and not have to remember to keep checking the site. Subscribe here.
  4. You’ve got a lot to contribute. I’ve only received a handful of products and guest-post submissions for the site. I know everyone is doing great things for their team and have lots of products and ideas to share. If you want to contribute, leave comments at the bottom of the posts or send your ideas to me at admin@themilitaryleader.com.
